Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

MakanMatch is operated by Appsol Technologies, a company registered in Singapore. We are committed to protecting the personal data of everyone who uses our platform, joins our waitlist, or otherwise interacts with MakanMatch.

This Privacy Policy is prepared in compliance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2012. It describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal data.

By using MakanMatch or submitting your information to us, you consent to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform or submit your details.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data when you interact with MakanMatch:

  • Identity data: Your full name as provided during registration or waitlist sign-up.
  • Contact data: Your email address and, where provided, your phone number.
  • Location data: Your neighbourhood or general area in Singapore, used to facilitate local matching between Home Chefs and Neighbours.
  • Role data: Whether you have registered as a Home Chef or a Neighbour.
  • Transaction data: Your order history, including dishes ordered, transaction amounts, and timestamps.
  • Technical data: Device type, browser type, IP address, and basic usage analytics collected automatically when you visit our platform.

We do not collect sensitive personal data such as NRIC numbers, financial account details, or biometric data directly. Payment information is handled by our payment provider and is not stored on our systems.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Platform operations: To create and manage your account, process orders, and provide our core matching services between Home Chefs and Neighbours.
  • Order matching: To connect you with relevant Home Chefs or Neighbours in your neighbourhood based on your location and preferences.
  • Waitlist management: To track your position on our pre-launch waitlist and notify you when the platform opens in your area.
  • Marketing communications: We will send you a maximum of 2 marketing emails per month. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email.
  • Fraud prevention and security: To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions or abuse of the platform.
  • Legal compliance: To fulfil our obligations under Singapore law, including the PDPA, and to respond to lawful requests from authorities.

4. Data Sharing

MakanMatch does not sell your personal data to any third party. We will never sell, rent, or trade your information for commercial purposes.

We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Payment processors: We share transaction-related data with our payment provider to process payments securely. Our payment provider is bound by its own privacy and security obligations.
  • Regulatory authorities: We will disclose personal data to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), law enforcement, or other government bodies where we are required to do so by law, or where we have a good-faith belief that disclosure is necessary to protect public safety.
  • Service providers: We may share limited data with trusted technology service providers (such as cloud hosting and analytics providers) who assist us in operating the platform. These providers are contractually required to handle your data in accordance with the PDPA.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for the following periods:

  • Active account data: Retained for as long as your account remains active, plus a further 3 years after account closure or your last transaction, to comply with legal and financial record-keeping obligations.
  • Waitlist data: Retained for 2 years from the date of submission, or until the MakanMatch platform launches and you transition to a full account, whichever is earlier.
  • Technical and analytics data: Retained in aggregated or anonymised form for up to 2 years for platform improvement purposes.

When your data is no longer required, we will securely delete or anonymise it.

6. Your Rights Under the PDPA

Under the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data held by MakanMatch:

  • Right of access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right of correction: You may request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to withdraw consent: You may withdraw your consent for us to collect, use, or disclose your personal data at any time. Please note that withdrawing consent may affect your ability to use certain features of the platform.

We will respond to your request within 30 days in accordance with PDPA requirements.

7. Cookies

MakanMatch uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our platform. We use two categories of cookies:

  • Essential cookies: Required for the platform to function correctly, including maintaining your session, remembering your preferences, and ensuring secure transactions. These cookies cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies: Used to understand how users interact with our platform, which pages are most visited, and where improvements can be made. You may opt out of analytics cookies at any time by adjusting your browser settings or using the cookie preference controls on our platform.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies to serve targeted advertisements.

8. Security

We take the security of your personal data seriously. MakanMatch employs industry-standard encryption (including HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmitted between your device and our platform.

We conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential risks. Access to personal data within our organisation is restricted to staff who require it to perform their duties, and all staff are trained on data protection obligations.

In the event of a data breach that is likely to cause significant harm to affected individuals, we will notify the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) and affected users as required under the PDPA's mandatory data breach notification obligations.

9. Updates to This Policy

MakanMatch may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal obligations.

When we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email using the address associated with your account or waitlist registration. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Continued use of the platform following notification of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
